Cast iron trucks are designed to transport liquid iron from a blast furnace to a casting machine or to a steel smelting shop to mixers, as well as from mixers to steel-smelting units. The main components of a cast iron truck are: a frame (Pos. 1), two two-axle railway-type bogies (Pos. 2) and a ladle lined on the inside with refractory bricks (Pos. 4). The ladle is the main element of a cast iron truck.
There are cast iron trucks with spherical and conical bucket shapes. The frame with a lowered middle part is made in the form of a welded structure made of low-alloy steel sheet. The frame is equipped with SA-3 automatic couplers (Pos. 3) and rests on two special biaxial bogies.
Principle of operation:
Cast iron trucks at the blast furnace are loaded in bulk through chutes with cut-off devices. The movement of the iron truck for pouring pig iron from ladles into the mixer of the steelmaking shop or directly to the steelmaking units is carried out along the internal railway tracks of the enterprise, with the help of traction rolling stock.
